My musical journey started around the age of 6 when I  got my first plastic guitar. What a disaster. Later my parents bought a piano and I took lessons for a while but the music didn't fit too well with young boy. When I was 14 my best friend turned me on to the electric guitar and the Allman Brothers music. Game over. I fell in love with that wonderful music and borrowed an old Silvertone or something electric guitar. The first song I learned, like everyone else, was "Smoke on the Water".

I got a job at a restaurant as a buss boy and saved up enough money to buy an acoustic guitar and began taking guitar lessons for a couple of years. Ever the budding wannabe rock star, LOL, me and my homies decided to try and create a band. The two other guitar players wanted to play guitar so I agreed to play bass and saved enough money to buy a nice Fender Jazz bass when I was around 16 to 17 years old.

I also wrote my first song about that time that is showcased on my website, "Walking Down the Road". This was around 1976. I was fortunate enough to leave home while still in high school and attend college. They had a jazz band/play ensemble that needed a bass player so I volunteered out of sheer ignorance and desire. My first day at rehearsal the band director gave me a score of about 20 songs. There I stand in utter terror. Uh, I don't read music hardly at all. So I tried to learn the lines the best I could but basically just learned the key for each song and faked it. Fake it til you make it. Some how I survived that experience.

Realizing how much I enjoyed eating and having a roof over my head I chose to go to engineering school. Over the years I bought a few more guitars, played with some folks for fun but didn't have time to dedicate to "being in a band".

A few years ago I was able to get back into playing when I bought what I thought was a cool guitar, 24 frets, coil split/tapping, double cut away, etc.

About that time I stumbled across a video interview with Willy Nelson and he made the comment "Country music is just the truth and three chords". Bingo, the light went off. Having the gift of painting with words I was like "I can do THAT". Over the past few years I've written over a hundred poems and lyrics about stories of my life, the world we live in, political satire and humor, love poems, etc.

This web site is the manifestation of my love for writing "songs" and manifesting them in song. I hope you enjoy your visit. Thank you and God bless.
